![]() That’s a little like what this Bible verse is talking about. Or perhaps you were so hungry you would have eaten almost anything. Have you ever been really hungry or really thirsty? Maybe you wanted a drink so bad you would have paid a lot of money for a bottle of water. O God, You are my God Early will I seek You My soul thirsts for You My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. Today’s Truth: Make God’s Word Most Important in Your Life Make God’s word the most important in your life and you’ll find that you’ll be less likely to stumble. Determine that it will be more important to you than the approval of others or what might sound or feel good. So today, challenge yourself to make the word of God a priority in your life. When faced with a decision, issue or choice, we should be thinking what does God say about this issue? Then we should choose His word over what we feel or think. Instead, we should be building our thinking, and our lives upon God’s word. However, making choices that way can cause you to stumble. I often cared more about what other people thought about me, and made choices to get approval from people rather than choices that would have lined up with God’s word. Isn’t that true? I know many times in my life, I’ve put what I wanted to do over what God’s word said. Today’s verse says that people stumble because they don’t obey God’s word. Where does God’s word fit into that? Do you consult what the Bible says to come to a decision about the issue? Let’s say that you’re trying to decide what you believe about an issue. What value do you place on God’s word? Do you use it to form the basis for your thinking? Here’s an example. The rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. “He is the stone that makes people stumble, Make the decision today to rejoice in the Lord always! ![]() Don’t let your situation or circumstances keep you down. It doesn’t matter what you’re facing or what you’ve been through, you can make yourself happy by choosing to think about the good things God has done for you. When you remember what God has done for you, it helps you keep a smile on your face. Has He ever provided something for you? Has He ever helped you when things were tough? Has He comforted you when you didn’t think you could go on? Remind yourself of the good things that God has done in your life. What does that look like? A good way to delight or gladden yourself in God would be to remind yourself of things that God has done for you. However, today’s Bible verse tells us to rejoice always, even if your day is going badly. When you’re having a bad day, one of the hardest things to do is keep rejoicing. Have you ever had a really bad day? You know, the one where everything seems to go wrong? Then to top it off, your brother is mean to you, your mom asks you to do extra chores, and you feel like no one gets you. He’s there and He’s walking with you through it one day at a time.Rejoice in the Lord always- delight, gladden yourselves in Him: again I say, rejoice! – Philippians 4:4 Regardless of the things you’re going through and how difficult they might feel, don’t believe the lie that God doesn’t care. Today’s Truth: God Knows What You’re Going Through and He Cares About You. You are so important to God and His plan on the earth. So know that you are loved much more than you can ever know or imagine. He sees you, He feels your pain and understands it completely. There we will be treated with undeserved grace, and we will find help. But he did not sin! 16 So whenever we are in need, we should come bravely before the throne of our merciful God. Jesus understands every weakness of ours, because he was tempted in every way that we are. What matters is that what Jesus did was enough. So it doesn’t matter if you’ve been perfect, it doesn’t matter if you’ve made all the right choices. ![]() It’s the perfection of Jesus that God sees when He looks at us. ![]() ![]() He cares for you and sees you through Jesus. But His care for you is totally separate from your performance. Not that you shouldn’t try to be good, of course, you should be living your life to please Jesus. He cares about you, and thankfully that love and care has absolutely nothing to do with how good you are. Or maybe because you’ve messed up, or not been the perfect Christian, He will skip over you and go to someone else that seems more “worthy”. Do you ever question God’s love for you? Do you ever wonder if He really cares? Perhaps you think, God has so many people to be concerned about, does He really have time to help me with my math class that I’m struggling in? It’s easy to think that perhaps God is too busy for you. ![]()
